Hi There folks. I hope everyone is having a great day.
I just got my REC TEC delivered last Friday and spent the weekend getting it put together and of course making BBQ. Here are my initial observations and results from the first cook! Enjoy.
It came on a pallet and was packaged very nicely!
a closer look at the pellets (all 220 pounds of them) that come with the REC TEC Silver Package. There were a few different kinds...Hardwood, Hickory and REC TEC Blend.
Again, packaged and protected very good.
All the other goodies were safely inside the grill.
I was surprised with how well built the REC TEC really is. This pic is my best attempt to show how thick the metal is on the lid.
The belly of the beast! Everything on the cooker is sealed very nice. The hardware, legs and shelf are all very solid and were a cinch to put together.
Here she is all put together and getting broken in with...
Spare Ribs and Chicken Legs and Thighs! This shows you just how much you can fit on the REC TEC. And finally....
The Finished Product
Coming from gas smokers and stick burners, I have to say that I was skeptical of Pellet Smokers. However after using the REC TEC, I don't think that I will ever be able to go back! The RT was very easy to put together and was able to do it by myself. It holds extremely steady temperatures and is fairly even across the whole cooking surface as you can see in the video below. The hardware and materials used to build the RT seem to be more sturdy than both Traeger and Green Mountain which I saw in person at the local Pellet Store. To top it off, REC TEC's customer service is second to none. That has been well documented just about everywhere, but it is 100% true!
Not being able to see the RT in person before making my purchase had me a little nervous at first. I had played around with and seen the Traegers in action and also looked long and hard at the Green Mountain Jim Bowie. Between talking with the guys at RT and the 6 month same as cash financing, I was sold! So far, I am very happy that I made the choice to go REC TEC and hope to be posting lots of Qview in the near future!
Cheers and Good BBQ to all!
