Trying to decide on which smoker

Discussion in 'Propane Smokers' started by wraunch, Jan 3, 2012.

  1. Ok, I am a complete rookie at smoking.  I have cooked on pig cookers in the past and I love my gas grill but it is time to start smoking.  I am looking at these three smokers at Sams Club, not comitted to Sams Club or these smokers so your opinion is greatly appreciated.  I would like to stay under $300 and I really like the $199 price point.  Of these which should I go with?  I like the ability to add wood and water without losing heat in the Landmann models.

What other smokers should I look at?  They don't have to be at Sams.

    Thanks,

I look forward to joining "The Brotherhood"!

If it were me I would go with the 40" Masterbuilt.

Are you sure you want a propane smoker, or would you be interested in electric or charcoal?

Any of them should do you great.

  6. I'm not partial to the cooking method.  It could be gas, electric or charcoal.

If your considering charcoal then I would look at a Weber Smoky Mountain Smoker. They are great right out of the box, carry the Weber name, maintain temps very easily, and will last forever. I have the 22.5 & it will hold 225 for 20 hours without adding any charcoal or wood.

  9. I take back my prior statement.  I would probably prefer gas or electric.  I have looked at the WSMs before and I might do charcoal in the future.  Even thought about investing in a Green Egg eventually if I get hooked on smoking.

  11. Any idea when they might start marking down the 40" since the new models have been revealed?
