help smoking a butt

    Hey all planning on smoking a butt probably around 5 lbs or so. I was wondering how much wood chips you would recommend for this? I am completely new so anything helps. I am using a 40" Masterbuilt gas smoker unmodded as of right now. Thanks in advance.

    I don't know what size pipe you have but I'm not sure there is one big enough to fit a butt in! Ahhhh but seriously. I can't really help with this because I burn splits but I'm sure someone will be along shortly with knowledge.

    Not a MES user myself but from what I have read/retained from posts the chip tray is usually depleted around 30-45 minutes ? and then must be reloaded. This is a no soaking the chips type in my understanding....nor do most here soak chips anyway but I see you're new.
