Well thank God no one was hurt. It took some time to get bids to repair it. I had guys come and never submitted a bid, what's with that? Lazy? Why advertise, come and measure and not bid? I could have this fixed by now if they provided bids. That is the rant.

For those of you that missed the original post here it is with many more pics.

Now for the rave. The kid had Progressive Insurance and didn't know what to expect from them.

I was told to get 3 bids and they would average them out and cut me a check on the spot. I took them in today and she had a check waiting.

I also shared my concern for the grass damage and it will need cleaning up and restoration and she said no problem, just send her the bill.

This is funny, they didn't send an adjuster out to look, but she asked me if I had any pics. I sent her the original thread from here and I was on the phone with her as she was looking. As she was reviewing each picture she would say "Oh My God" over and over.

BTW, the truck was totaled.

I was really worried about getting screwed but I was treated very well and got paid in a timely manner and would recommend them as a good company to deal with.

I had a guy come today and cleaned up the block and he will start on it Monday. He even put up a temporary fence to keep the dogs from running away as Jackpot did last week. All in all we are happy now.

I'm in the construction business and hear all the time about contractors either showing up then not returning the bid or just not showing up at all. They must have a lot more money that I do!

Glad to hear you're finally getting it taken care of.

Sounds like it's all getting taken care of. Good for you. Glad for the info on Progressive. I've always wondered how well the discount insurance companies responded.

As far as the rant...it's probably a blessing in disguise that they never delivered on their bids. That might have been the company you chose and who knows how shotty the work would have been and how long it would've taken them.

They put up a temporary fence for the dog?! Sounds like you got a quality company that cares about their image. Hope it all works out.

I'm really glad to hear that the insurance company is treating you well. Sounds like you got a good contractor too.

Ron,
Glad to hear the happy ending, also glad no one was hurt. The barricade worked well. Are you going to build it higher? :)

It's finaly nice to hear someone got treated well from an insurance company. I have dealt with some on the contractors and had nothing but nightmares to show for it. Now I don't know why a contractor would come to the house and spend the time to look at the job (specially these days) an not atleast give you a bid. Too bad you didn't have a drywalls fence or I would fly out and fix it for you and smoke some really fine hunks of meat.

Great news on getting things fixed right away! Sounds like Progressive is really standing up and doing the right thing by you. Glad to see everything is working out well

Building a fence in ElPaso?
Is there an illegal alien joke in here somewhere?
lad things are working out.
What do you think of Stateline? I like their Dino bones, but everytime I get the sample plate the brisket is dry!
Any thoughts? I have not been out there in 2 yrs.

Congratulations on a quick and fair settlement, Ron. OSunds like Progressive is a decent complany to work with. Make sure your new wall is as strong as the old one!

Glad everything worked out like that, unusual this day and age.
That is a terrible way to run a business, send guys out to estimate jobs and never hear from them again, oh well.
