in a rare turn of events, GOOD NEWS!

I can walk in the boot, full weight for three weeks then ditch the boot! No restrictions after another 5 weeks. I seriously love my ortho doc. Imagining looks great! No screws in the tibia, he implanted a "post" that will eventually become bone. F'ing magic!!

Nice to see the progress and great news too!

Now, maybe time to adjust the daredevil setting a bit to hopefully eliminate further sidelining?

yeah...we have talked alot about that. considering giving up snowboarding for some other less dangerous winter sport or just join a gym and get jacked. ive broken both ankle twice in three years on the slopes. a few years back my wife tore up her shoulder and biceps tendon. thats a lotta down time, money, and future problems. but I have been on the slopes for 50 years. its a tough call. TBD

How much do you want for your snowboard ? Just kidding. . .
Glad to hear things are moving along positively.

Haha thanks! It’s quite sore after walking around the house some, but that expected.

I can hit the spin bike for an hour a day with resistance now. Good for mind and body.

Happy the recovery is progressing faster than originally anticipated. You're approaching the stage where time of recovery is more than your age.

I recently rode the chair lift with a lifeling skier, probably over 70. He said he was happy to be back out on the slopes; he had been sidelined for awhile getting both knees and one hip replaced. He said things were so much better now that his parts were “unbreakable”.

I admired his spirit, while thinking “I bet your orthopedic surgeon did NOT use the word ‘unbreakable’”.

I had a friend that ended up in "the boot". It's a good sign, it means the end is coming...or the new beginning. I never got in to dangerous sport, I'm too prone to getting hurt. I have two speeds...stop and full-throttle.

That's why I hire younger men to clean my gutters, etc. these days (two story house). I dont have that "Afflac" insurance:emoji_laughing:

Heck, I'm extra careful just stepping off the back of my pickup these days...I have stuff to do, wood to split, things to maintain around the property and house, I dont need to be laid-up...ever.

I know that it plays on your head Dave. But remember YOU would and have done it for them, and always will.

But I get it , it is hard to sit back and be taken care of.

David
Most men are like that instinctively. After a couple days of bieng served and taken care of I get real antsy. I've brought my wife steak dinner to the bed upstairs when her back went out, but will do anything to get up and get myself stuff when I'm sick or injured as soon as possible.

All the best for an accelerated recovery David!

7 days to go walking in the boot, and then I am walkin with two shoes on! can hardly wait! feels like its been forever.

As for snowboarding, likely take next season off and see how we feel after that. two broken legs in 3 years is a lot. especially with so much other family stuff happening. Including grandbaby #3 (from my oldest daughter).
