I can't use the Cajun Bandit ones because I have a Maverick. I did see that the new WSM's have a rubber grommet for probes, and handles built in, so I'm hoping mine comes with that.
I came up with the lamp rod eyelet mod back when I got my 22.5" WSM years ago - I was to cheap to buy the Cajun Bandit ones... lol. They have never made any impact (that I can tell) on my temps, and they have never caused any rust from drilling the holes.
I did see one thread where somebody also purchased the lamp rod caps and used them to cover the hole when no probe was being used. Or as Hambone pointed out a lot of folks also like the "slot" method as well.
Glad to hear Weber is making them a standar offering now on the new WSM's.

Nice!http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/140549/maverick-owners-probe-eyelet-solution-sealed
This has worked out great for me..it's sealed all the time and easy access for all the probes
Yeah, it was hard for me to drill that hole through the beautiful finish but it's gotta be done. I used the lamp nipple as well and I have to say it is almost too small when I am using both my Digi-Q and Maverick.Nice!
I looked at conduit, but didn't want to drill that large of a hole through the enameled sides of the WSM - I was really nervous when I did the 3/8 drill for the lamp rod... lol. It's always nice to see other cost saving mods... more ways to save $$ for meat!
