Quite a few of my former co-workers at the USPS are Vets. And every last one of them has more than a few nightmarish tales in dealing with the VA. Opie fought long and hard to get in increase in his Disability rating....from what I remember once you get to a certain percentage your defendant children will get a small percentage of some sort. He spent the better part of 5 years beating his head off the wall....sat down with some sort of Disabled Vet Advocate....that actually had an office in the VA Hospital....once the Advocate got involved he got his well deserved increase in a matter of weeks. The nightmares they put you folks thru is downright disturbing....Thank You for you service.
I was medically discharged.. i.e. my medical problems were bad enough I couldn't continue to serve.... 3 friends with sleep apnea finished their time in service (2 retired, one out after 8 years) and all three of them have higher disability ratings than I do (thanks in large part to some really crappy wording that made it so doctor's wouldn't write the words needed to bump my rating up any higher). It's a sore spot with me....
