Been years since I lived in Charlotte, but Sonny's is pretty good for a chain. Lots of small mom and pop places.

Don't do Sonny's. Good BBQ, but their focus is on sweet BBQ sauce.

Go to Elliot's in Matthews. Not sure where you're at in Charlotte, but Eliot's is on Independence Blvd as you are heading out of Charlotte. It's in a strip mall on your left. WIsh I could give better directions :(

Must try their homemade banana pudding. Best in the world!!!!

This thread will come in handy for me as well. I will be heading to Charlotte later in March and in April. More suggestions are definitely welcome. I'll make sure to check out Elliot's.

Lancasters in Mooresville is decent. It's about 30 miles north of Charlotte or over in Concord Little Dueys (sp?) is pretty good. At least their wings are. They are smoked and the sauce tastes pretty good.

I forgot about a place the BBQ King, was reminded about when watching an episode of Diner's, Drivr In's and Dive's
