Did some dirt work for my mom's neighbor a while ago. I didn't want any payment because the machine was already there so it didn't cost me anything but some fuel and time. Anyway... she knows I like to cook and knows I love beer (LOL) so she dropped off some pork and beer at my mom's for me. The dirt track races got rained out tonight so I figured I'd make some PP, enjoy some Sam Adams Summer Ale, and watch the Busch race tonight.

Time to prep the meat... she got me a picnic shoulder which I hardly ever cook but hey... free is free! So before I dive into the beers, have to get done with the knife work. Caped the skin off pretty nice this time. Much cleaner than I usually do after 6 beers 🤣

Rubbed her up with some rub the better half picked up at a local farm market. $5.99 for a big bottle, can't beat it and it's actually a really good flavor!

Now I'm going to park this beauty in the fridge until about 6:30-7:00pm. Still debating on whether I'll use the MES or the WSM. Haven't used either in a while, the Weber kettle is just so versatile that I hardly use anything else.

Think I'll ponder this big decision over a few FREE beers. Here's to the start of a great late-summer weekend everyone 🍻!

Mighty nice of her to take care of ya like that.

Yeehaw! Sounds like the skids are greased and this aught to go just right.
But why remove that skin? I'd checkerboard scored it and had cracklins with the pulled pork.
Not too late though, cut it up that skin , deep fry it and have cracklins and beer.

My love-hate with the AMNPS continues... thought I had her primed to go: and hour at 275° to dry the pellets, outside burn = 15 minutes, good cigar cherry burning.... then... Put it in the box... no smoke, out in in 10 minutes.

Take 2....

Trading, bartering or repayment for a favor is usually a good deal for both parties. I use the rub you posted.... it's packaged by a company in Connecticut, and they 'brand' the product with your logo if you buy a certain quantity. Two local stores stock their products and their spices and seasonings are quite good.

Check out their "Prime Rib Steak Seasoning", and their "Olde Canadian Chicken" these are very good. The "Beer Can Chicken" is a little too salty for me.

Day late and a dollar short... Here's the finish pic! The power went out at some point last night so it threw a wrench in the works. But who cares... I spent the entire day babysitting my 8 month old niece... first the beer store, then Cabelas.... then home for good food and her 4 legged cousin Gemma... This is living!!!
