Rivet’s Smoked Cayenne & Jalapeno Salsa First of all I’d like to thank Rivet for this excellent salsa that he was nice enough to send to me. Now about the salsa. Looking at the jar you can see that it has a nice deep red color, and you can see the seeds, onions, peppers, cilantro, and onion. This is very appealing to the eye of a Chilehead. The aroma has the sweetness from the limes and tomatoes, and the smoke from the peppers. Very pleasing aroma. Taste has a very good balance of flavor and heat. You first taste the sweetness followed by the smoke, and then the heat comes on. The heat starts at the back of your throat and proceeds along your tongue, lips, and the roof of your mouth. It has a very good texture on the chunky side, which means he didn’t over blend/process it. I find the texture great, as it won’t slide off your food like thin runny salsa. My tasting was done straight out of the jar, no other flavors to single out. All in all, it is an excellent salsa that you will not find in most Mexican restaurants, which includes all of my favorites throughout the southwest. He has taking his time and done his research and taste testing throughout. I rate it at a 10 out of 10, or just plain EXCELLENT. Viva Rivet.
