I haven't, but I'd dang sure give it a taste. I've heard of stranger things.

You have done the obligatory opossum first, haven't you?

Never smoked one, but had it otherwise. One word, greasy!!!

Usually throw them in a pot to make stew for a small game feed.

I've done one in the oven with those pot roast oven bags--throw some potatoes, carrots, and onion in there with it. It was surprisingly good to me. I would compare the taste to a chuck roast except stringier. It's a darker meat. If I were to smoke one, I think I'd smoke for an hour to give it some flavor and then wrap it, probably put it in an aluminum pan with foil over the top to hold the juice in there.

I've never smoked one, but had them cooked in an underground pit. They remind me of goose.... a dark, kind of greasy meat. They are tasty though. :)

The greasey part is why I was thinkin of smokin the critter, so that fat can run off.

Grandpa used to eat possum, but alas, my possum dog passed into the great huntin grounds bout 4 years ago, just haven't had the heart to replace him.

I was also wonderin if I should brine him or not? Maybe just a good rub and then smoke?
