Well I was able to fully smoke the birds for Christmas dinner even with the low temp outside and wind. The high today was only 24 and the winds blew all day long 20- 35 with gusts of up to 50 it was darn cold out there. Smoker was only able to get to 230 even with my make ship wind break of insulated duct. It took longer to smoke the 18 pounders, started at 10:00 and they came out of the smoker at 6:50 with a 165 breast and 173 thighs. Along with the birds I did 72 abts 2 batches of 32, dang them r good can’t make enough of them…..lol. And now here’s the Q-view drum roll please........
1 of the birds out of the smoker, other was carved almost as soon as it came off.
The feast or rather what is left of it, after 12 hungry people got after it.
Out of 72 Abts this is all that is left, every 1 that eats them goes back for more. Im betting 1/2 the first 32 were gone in 15 min.
Whats left of an 18 pound bird, now you see why we smoke 2.
The dessert These 2 pies were totally made by my 14 year old son. I was busey with the smoking, mom had to work so he decided to make them to ensure we had pie. They turned out great
