I have the minion method going right now and i think its working pretty well. I couldnt reach any of the temps im seeing right now yesterday.
Im sure the amount of smoke going out the exhaust right now is due to the mesquite. The mesquite is not blazing but it has the smallest fire right next to it. Im trying to choke the intake side just a little, but i heard choking it too much would be bad.

Here is a video, i just want to know if you think this is too much smoke or if its okay due to the fact the wood is smoking right now. I can take more video of any angle, inside or out if you need it.

Is this too much smoke??

Forgot to add, this is a 100% unmodded SnP minus the Aluminum foil you see.

Looks like you have it figured out.......

THIN BLUE SMOKE is all you need....

Good Job

Is that thin blue smoke?? If so SWEEEEEET.

Thanks
kris

Congrats, looks like your doing a great job. Was thinking about getting a SnP but was unsure. More video is always great, especially if it has some smoked meat in it. What are you smoking today?

Speak of the devil. I was loading this at the same time you posted that.

I have my first fatty(just bacon wrapped breakfast sausage), a few ABT's(my first also, just cream cheese filled jalapenos wrapped in bacon) and some wings i will be saucing and tossing.

minion method at work

You know what i totally forgot to add, look at my video. Im in CA and dont have the crazy weather you might. Its about 70° outside without any wind. Good luck, keep me updated on your threads so we can figure this out together

yep, right now we're in the mid 40's, which is making a huge difference, i think. i have my mnion method set up just about like yours according to your video:

http://www.mercedimports.com/suprfas...eos/minion.wmv

except i am switching the "hot" sides back and forth from left to right as they burn down. (one sides burn down, i add unlit briquettes, then as that side burns i add to other side when it burns down. perhaps i should keep the "burning" side always to the right on the firebox and shovel coals there as they burn down?

will check back in a bit!
