New to the forum. I've been smoking meat for years on a Brinkman upright charcoal smoke and grill. I was just given a Brinkman with the offset firebox and came here to learn a little bit about using wood for heat and smoke and to get some cool new recipes. Did a fatty (my 1st ever http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/thread/95008/my-first-fatty ) over memorial weekend and now the friends and family are hooked. My other grill is a weber kettle and i have used it for the indirect method but not very often. Just wanted to stop in and say hi & thanks for all the advice that I get from this site!

Glad to have you,  chucken!!

Lots of knowledge on here about the smokers you mentioned. Here is a search that might help you with some mods and other tips on that new Brinkmann offset

http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/search.php?search=brinkmann+offset+smoker

Some of the results may not be for the Brinkmann specifically but it should still apply in many cases when it comes to cooking methods and modifications.

Welcome to SMF glad you decided to join in. Congrats on the new smoker. You'll find lots of good info and some great recipes here. Have fun and happy smoking

Chucken, great idea of yours to join the SMF. Plenty of great advise and tips in many areas. It's all good my friend.

is a chucken a drunk chicken?

Welcome to SMF!  I have a Brinkmann SNP ( smoke n' pit ) and love it.  Once you get yours dialed in you're gonna be on cloud 9!  I don't burn wood in mine, but I am sure someone here does!

Welcome to the SMF. Glad to have you here. Lots of good folks, great recipes and knowledge. Looking forward to your first qview.

Now that's one fine looking fattie you brought out there.

Welcome Chucken to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are alot of really good folks that would just love to help you with anything to do with smoking. Now we like having new folks here to give a new prospective on some of the ways we do things around here. Now if you are really new then I would suggest that you sign up fir the 5-day E-course it free and it will give you the basics on smoking and a few recipes too. Here's a link to it:

http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/list/127

then you will have a method to your newly found madness and believe me it will be a madness. Then when you start smoking things you will have to learn how to post the pictures / Qview

here. So here's a link to a tutorial on how to post your Qview so we can see what your doing.

 http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/thread/82034/how-to-post-qview-to-smf

Now the next thing you have to do is run out and get something to smoke. Then just smoke it and if you have any questions just post  them here and we will answer all your questions that you might have. Oh yea there's no stupid questions we were all there in the beginning and we just really like to help others enjoy the fabulous smoked foods that we do. So again
