Bacon Wrapped Chicken Breasts-Question

    Good Morning!

    I'm a newbie and this is the first time i'm using our electric smoker.  I've been reading online and seeing so many different instructions on how to properly smoke chicken breasts. 

    We have about 9 bacon wrapped chicken breasts, that were brined for about 3 hours last night and then I put my rub on I and wrapped in bacon and its waiting for the smoker. 

    I've read that 2-3 hours is perfect but then in just as many other places I've read 5-6 hours for boneless skinless chicken breasts.

    Any input as to how long is a good time for these?  Also at what temperature would you suggest? That is another thing I'm finding varies greatly.

    Hi Sheri, 

    Chicken breasts cook pretty quickly, usually about 2 to 2.5 hours at 225 on the smoker.  However, never use time as the final gauge, always, always test the internal temperature, which should be 165.  Be sure to give them a rest before slicing.

    Another tip - you may want to crank up the heat to get a crisp on your bacon.  One good way to do this is to pull the breasts off the smoker at about 155 IT and slide them under the broiler for a couple minutes to crisp up that bacon.

    you cook till internal temp of 165 i think. its not a time related thing.  when I smoke chicken breasts it only takes a few hours not 5 to 6.
