Adding Charcoal to Chargriller????

  1. Hi Guys,

    Just wondering after the temp starts dropping in my char griller, do I add lit (white coals) or fresh charcoal? How much do people add to refuel?

    I add half full weber charcoal chimney starter of white coals. I do not like the taste of coal that can come with unlit charcoal.

    Add lit charcoal. if you add charcoal that is not lit your temps will drop even more. To get longer smokes after adding the lit charcoal I add some unlit lump over the top.

    Some use the Minion method.  I prefer to add well lit charcoal about every 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

  5. ^^^ This is what I ended up doing. 35-40° and a stiff wind was playing havoc.
