You all did such a great job helping me pick out a pc thought I would throw this out there. I dont travel much mainly because I just don't like doing it alone. I need to get over that! I going to Fl to see bro next month. He really wanted me to come to Puerto Rico while he is there but he lives long way from airport. He goes to Maggie Valley NC in May. Still need visit him there. Anyway I normally just take a tablet with me. Would be nice to have a real computer that also has a HMDI so I can actually watch some TV at night! Dont want to spend a lot, I thinking maybe no more than $400? Hoping maybe can use when using forscan on my ford 150.

I am no real help with a laptop either.
I also just take a tablet, I get all my emails on that and watch movies that I tag on Netflix and can watch anytime. I took mine with me to Florida over the holidays, could get all my important things from travel agent with reg emails. And could watch my saved movies anywhere I had wifi, from Netflix account.

I believe I would just go with a tablet. An iPad if you're an Apple guy, or a Samsung Galaxy tab if you prefer Android (I have a Galaxy Tab S9 FE and am well pleased with it). I also have 4 Lenovo 14 in. laptops (you read that right) and they are all fast,

I'm using one of them connected to a monitor (bigger screen) and wireless mouse and keyboard to type this.

If your tablet has Bluetooth then just get a HDMI adaptor to connect to the TV and stream. Cost maybe $40 or less.

We travel with iPads, can download movies before you leave, nice and lightweight too. Probably last longer than a laptop that isnt used much.

you can project it to a TV wirelessly, or buy an HDMI adapter. both work great.

I have laptops , tablets ( Ipad and Galaxy ) , and several desktop computers . All serve a purpose .
I do watch some TV on the Ipad , but I like to travel with the laptop for the typing , paying bills or posting stuff and emails .
You can get a nice laptop for your price point . I have Dells and a couple HP's . Currently using an HP with windows 11 and a 15 inch touch screen .
Lighted keyboard and a wireless mouse are a must have for me . Mine does not have a DVD drive . Wish it did .

Before I retired work always furnished us with Dell laptops to use. We were always having trouble with the Dell's. One year I was furnished a HP laptop. I have been buying HP laptops ever since.

Agree with the tablet suggestion. Even when I camp out for astrophotography, my S9+ handles what I need it to very well. Otherwise, HP or Sony have been my goto over the years

Last seemed to have hard time finding offline movies. I will have to take a look at Netfix.

Did not think about the adapter.
