I just wanted to share our delicious tri tip from this last Sunday. I smoked this with a mix of mesquite and hickory. Since it was “on sale” for $5.99lb last week I decided $17 was worth it for a great smoked dinner. It came out succulent. I also love using these Budweiser beer battered shrimp with my surf and turf meals at home. Pairowith baked potatoes and corn on the cob. The whole dinner was awesome. Have a great day everyone.

Believe it or not one of our local market chains has an ad for untrimmed tri tip for $3.49lb this week. I may just have to mosey on over and have a look :)

I'd hit that.... I noticed you made the perfect 'elbow cut' so you could follow the change in grain direction. Very important with a tri-tip. :emoji_thumbsup:

Man does that ever look good! Tri tip looks cooked to perfection! And a nice plated pic! Only thing that has me more excited is I found one at a butcher shop this afternoon! $7.99 a lb, but I don't care... was no way I was leaving without one!

Looks great and perfectly cooked. We love TT when we can get it. That Shrimp looks just right too. Excellent job.

Yeah, have friend that goes to CA working on a private jet. She brings me back to NY tri-tips from costco. The first time was $5.99/lb then 7 and 8....still worth it for me, I hear she is making another trip later this month. Time to stock up!

Perfectly cooked TT and a dinner I’d love to sit down to!!

Our local supermarket had tri tips on sale during Memorial Day weekend. It was the first and last time I saw them there. In hindsight, I should have bought a bunch.

There’s another upscale supermarket in my area that sells them and they’re $16/lb. I can’t justify those prices.

I totally agree. That's an insane price. We as consumers need to simply take a stand and just not buy meat at these prices. If the markets have to throw them out or deeply discount them on the last day they can sell them then they will get the message. They can sell it, but at something approaching a reasonable cost. I need to get over to Food 4 Less and have a look at what they are offering at $3.49lb. If it's not too much fat then it's probably going to be worth stocking up a bit.
