Hey guy's Im very new to smoking & want to do a very small (it says picnic roast) of 2 lbs. My question is that I read it's typically 1.5 hours each lb. Is that the same for a small guy? I'm assuming I should still probe it either way? What about letting it rest. any help would be apprecited

Yep, same rules apply to a smaller baby. And definitely probe it. You should ALWAYS COOK TO TEMPERATURE, NOT TIME.

It is always good to let meat rest after cookig to allow for the moisture and oils to be reabsorbed throughout the meat itself. With such a small roast I'd say 15 minutes would be plenty.

Good luck on your smoke and keep us posted. We like pictures

Like rivet said temp not time so fire it up and go smokin and you always let meat rest unless you like shoe leather. Let it rest and you'll love it. Remember Qview.

Need to have some SMF t-shirts or aprons made up that say "Ask me the temp, don't ask me the time".

OKAY! I'm willin' to take the lead heah, and search our a local print-shop and make up T-shirts and aprons for us folks

(If ADMIN says it's OK. Gotta be a SMF sanctioned thing. I don't want to get on anyone's bad side.)

I will ask for artwork. ANyone here with skills, or a friend/relative who can draw up some artwork to match the theme of: ASK ME THE TEMPERATURE, DON'T ASK ME THE TIME!

Can be B&W, Line art, ink drawing. Color is good too, but please no more than 3 color. Once you get into 4 color the price skyrockets. 2 Color is best for price vs appearance tradeoff.

Any help please PM me 'cause we may lose sight of the thread.

Good idea. That way when the wife/husband/kids ask "When is dinner gonna be ready?" You can just point at your shirt and say "In another 25 degrees"

You could always re-post about this in the general discussion or all members forum I suppose. Just a thought.
