Good Morning Everyone,
I grew up in Chapel Hill, NC so eastern style smoked pork is what I grew up on, wishing I was back in the pit. I love cooking and I love experimenting and Have always had fascination with smoking meat, so I figured quit dreaming about it and start smoking bubba. I found this forum just yesterday and you guys have quite a knowledgeable and friendly community here so I am very excited to join up. I live in the mountains in Cullowhee, North Carolina now and there is no good bbq or smoked meat of any quality around here so stepping up my game is something I am truly looking forward to. I am going to get a smoker within the next 2 weeks. I have a friend with an offset smoker that is really rusted on the inside. I also have been looking at some vertical models between $80-$150 bucks both cylinders and cabinet style. Any recommendations on a good smoker to learn on and/or should I not even entertain the idea of salvaging the rusty one? Sorry for rambling on and if I sound like a novice, well it is because I am, so any advice or help is greatly appreciated. Thank you guys again and I look forward to being a member of this community.
