i had a vertical Oklahoma Joes smoker and moved then bought a Yoder 640. Very disappointed in the Yoder cause no smoke taste, not enough flavor and meat is not as tender. So looking for another stick burner like Oklahoma Joes but maybe better. Any recommendations?

You can get an A-MAZE-N Pellet smoke generator to fix the flavor issue with your pellet grill. Load it with your flavoring wood and lite it..... great smoke.

Lack of smoke flavor is a common issue with most pellet grills due to how they operate, burn too clean @ high temps...

I had 2 A-Maze going. On that brisket still didn’t have a smoke taste. Weird part is did fat side up like I always did and none of it melted off.

I have the Old Country smokehouse. It’s a vertical stick burner and I think it’s great.

Used same digital that I always used. But pulled out my second one to verify.

A pellet grill will never compare to the flavor of a stick burner...you sacrifice that flavor for convenience with a pellet grill, but some people are willing to make that trade. I went with a propane set up but I use big chunks of wood....still get that real wood cook, but use the propane to moderate the heat. That was a trade off I could handle.

I mainly build my smoker for large 100~120# batches of smoke sausage, but I can cook everything in it....

It sounds like you grew accustom to the smoke profile of a wood burner. I don't think you'll replicate that with a pellet, electric, propane or charcoal smoker. If you have access to a reliable supply of wood then I agree with Al go with the Lang. I haven't read anybody complain about their Lang.
