Yet Another Turkey Thread w/ qview

    We have been brining and smoking our turkeys for the last 4 or 5 years as it really helps my wife out by freeing up the oven for her awesome side dishes not to mention it always turns out great. This year I decided to give Tip's brine and spritz a try. All I can say is that it was incredible. We got a 12lbs natural bird from Whole Foods and it cooked a lot faster than I expected. Here is the qview.



    Just about time to take it off. I threw a couple of sausages on just because I could. [​IMG]


    After resting for about 30 minutes.


    Cornbread sausage stuffing.


    Traditional stuffing.


    Candied yams.


    Bean salad and cranberry sauce.


    I want to do it all over again.

    Solar, that is one of the best looking birds I've seen yet. Make sure you toss a picture of that into the throwdown.

    It seems to be a common comment around here the last couple of days that many were saying their birds were coming up to temp much faster than expected.

    It rose surprisingly fast. I had to dial down the temp for the last two hours to try and stretch it out to hit dinner time. I have never had a bird cook this fast before.

    That bird looks great, lots of times you can hardly make out the smoke ring, especially after taking a picture but that one was a nice deep pink.

    I'm with the Dude on this one that hast to be one of the best looking turkeys of this years that I have also seen. You really did outdo yoursef with that spread too. I'm sure that you all enjoyed that dinner too.[​IMG][​IMG]THROWDOWN winner there.

    There isn't much in the way of leftovers left, that is for sure. I am tempted to redo this for Christmas but I am already committed to making my first smoked prime rib.
