Hello, I am new to this site. I found it stumbling around the net, late at night. I am from Colorado, and have been smoking for years. I am almost 64 and retired.

I started off with a bullet type smoker. It worked ,but the double layer grill setup was just bad.

I was hooked. I gave that one away and bought a offset  smoker. I used it till it fell apart.

I moved up above Denver into the mountains. The fire danger  in the summer is extreme. I had to boogie out twice from close fires. I was never burned down but it was close. So I bought a electric smoker and a gas grill, I did not want to burn down the mountain side from a charcoal spark. I hated it, no smoke ring, and everything tasted the same. Junk.

I was tired of the snow in the winter, and the fires in the summer,  I packed up and moved back down to the plains. The smoker sat outside un-covered and the winter snow and the spring rain did it in. I went out one day, plugged it in and it was a goner it had shorted out. I keep the gas a Char broil infra red grill. I still use it for quick cooks.

I was down to a gas grill, what next? I found a Akorn, komado style cooker at home depot for 199. I went home and read every word ever printed about the Akorn and komado grills in general. I bought it. It is a good grill to learn on, it was cheap and I produced some outstanding meals with it.

I kept looking on craigslist for a better komado , I found a Vision pro series S, with rib rack,  stone  and someother things [ I can't spell accessory] package for 400 dollars. I posted the Akorn for $120.00 on craigslist. A woman called and said she wanted to buy it for her husbands birthday. He had been wanting one. They showed up and they were young. I told them I would take a 100 and with the extra 20 go buy some steaks and enjoy the grill. Merry birthday.

5 smokers later, I am still here. Still learning and still loving life.

Tomorrow is my daughters birthday. A ten pound bag of wings from Costco is whats for dinner. I think 225 degrees, for about an hour and a half, will work just fine. Tom

to the group glad to have you. Just keep on smoking and you may catch me in age some day I'm now 74.

Welcome Tom,  My recommendation is after you pull those wings off the smoker toss them on the gas grill (Preheat and get it nice and hot!) a minute or 2 per side will give the skin a nice crisp.
