Another new guy. Wife got me a smoker for the birthday.
A friend sent me a link to this forum and said to join. I'd learn. :)
And so it starts. Time to read and learn. Already love to eat. :)

Welcome aboard Jonathan. Your friend told you right about learning here. Unlimited knowledge in these pages.

Good luck and happy smoking.

Welcome to the forum. And congrats on the new smoker. What kind is it? Lots of good info here for any kind of smoker or any kind of food. Enjoy the site, glad to have you. Happy smokin', David.

It's a Masterbuilt. Electric. Looks easy enough. Stick meat and wood chips. Set the temp and timer for when wanting to eat. :)

I'm sure it's not going to work that way. As long as I don't burn down the house learning.

One thing to look out for with ANY new smoker........most of the built-in thermometers and probes are off. Not to be trusted until verified by a known good thermometer. You might want to look into getting a dual probe thermo. Then, use one probe mounted about an inch above the grate to give the real world cooking temp and the other probe into the meat to check the internal temperature which determines when it is done. You can't go by the clock doing BBQ.

Good luck and 73's
