Today I put my WSM together (put some wheels on it as well) and a couple things came up that I hope someone can answer.

1. Where is a good spot to hang a maverick? I have it hanging off the access door, but that prevents a tight seal when done.
2. The lid is hard to put on. Almost as if the middle section might be a little mishaped. Has anyone ran into this?

Thanks

Yeah.... my center section was a tad out of round when I got mine as well, you can either contact Weber for a new one, or just live with it. If you keep the current mid section double check the support brackets for the upper rack and make sure they support the rack well on all four tabs. I had to place some spacers behind two tabs to pus my supports in a bit to support the rack better. If you look below my signature line there is a link showing that mod and the eyelet mod I came up with.

Grats on the WSM.... it is an awesome smoker for the $$.

I also use a side-table for the thermometer and the rest...

On mine the lid isn't hard to put on, but, I do have to push down on it some to get it to snap into place.

Good luck and enjoy! It's a great smoker!

Thanks for the information! I think I'll soon make the side tables. This is my second smoker, the first being a propane one. This is a hobby that is definitely fun to do. Every cook is a learning experience.
