Hey all. I have been smoking for the last 3 years or so. Using a WSM 18 and love it but am looking for an upgrade. My buddy and I are about go get a pair of 36" hybrids from Lang. Gonna save a bit on shipping them together.
Just wanted to say hi, I have been trolling the site for the last month and love the site, lots of good info and advice.

Welcome to the forum, Joe. Well, you sure did make a nice step up. The Langs are great cookers. Glad to have you on board. Lots of great folks and great info here. And the search function will cover about any topic you can think of. All the best to you.

Hey Joe

Fantastic!!!

I'm interested to see the sensational Lang food that you will now make!!!

It sounds so fabulous already, just with the machine being en route!

(I look online at those, as if they are locomotive damn trains, and think about someday buying one)! Great stuff!

Keep us posted!

Cheers! - Leah

Welcome from a fellow long islander!  Just started smoking in October and I have learned so much from all the helpful people on this site.  Congrats on the new smoker.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Just as a point of reference I did not get the smoker yet. I still want to call lang about a few details like making it left handed as it will fit into the outdoor kitchen plans I am building this summer. It will be a great one with tons of great q and grilling.

Smoking on long Island is kinda odd, when the neighbors see the smoke they think fire not bbq. Over the past few years I have "trained" them. What r u smoking on worktogthr?

Btw there is a small bbq competition up in Port Washington in may. I think I am working buy my friends took 1st place last year. Think it's may 18th.

I smoke with a masterbuilt dual fuel. Mostly with propane. I recently picked up a Weber Performer with plans to do more charcoal smoking/grilling with it. Smoking does seem to be rare on Long Island. Everyone seems to do all their outdoor cooking on a gas grill. I was one of those as well but the smoking bug got me and now I am playing around with charcoal. It's a fun hobby and the wife doesn't complain because it provides some good meals. I will have to look into that bbq competition. Not looking to compete, just to check it out.
