Hello,

Man, this is a great site! I never thought to look for a forum like this, since I am not the swiftest fellow dealing with the internet and all.

I have  been cooking ( smoking) for about 40 years now. I did start out early, but that is the way things are done down on the farm. Been using the original I believe yall call em UDS, out of a very thick 55 gallon drum, we made from 2. We cut it with a jig saw, and by using 2, we rolled the edges to make it near about air tight.

Anyway, I am still excited about what a great site this is, and sure plan to visit it most every day, to learn more, as one can never really know it all!

My daughter will also be spending time here as well, as she has been cooking with me for the last 6 years, and it is a great activity that we can share

We still use the old cooker as we call it, I found a great deal on a New Braunfels Bandera I believe it is called that I gave to her for a birthday and she has a lil Cube smoker, and we use a couple of trailer type we made for the big cookings.

I have wondered what that smoker was called, and found that out be checking out this site, just now! I sure think it is that Bandera, but it is sure made from heavy gage metal.

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Kat
