Hello All,
I've been browsing for several months, and decided to join last week, great Forum you folks have here! I've been a part of multiple car forums for the past 10 years, never thought to seek out a smoking forum, but this is great and as expected there is a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw from in this community.
I have been using a CharBroil Vertical split door charcoal smoker for the past 2 years, was previously using what you all refer to as an ECB which is what my father and I used for the 15 years prior. I do not smoke often, however I've been much more active with this cooking method the past few months. As a fun winter project I have disassemble the smoker for some cosmetic and functional upgrades. Cabinet will be insulated and receive a wood exterior and the heat source moved to an external firebox made from an empty 1/2 barrel Yuengling Keg I've been holding on to for a few years. I love to tinker around in the garage, having sold my "toy" car and exited the drag racing hobby, this project ought to keep me occupied for a few weekends.
I look forward to continued reading, much enjoyment and satisfaction from the forums here.
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year and Happy Smoking in 2015
Kurt
