yep, another new guy...(we used to call 'em "JEEPS" back in the air farce daze...)
been bbqing most of my life (well, at least 40 years)...normally use whatever it is I have around the house. use briquets, wood, whatever is around and I have the inclination for...
nothin' special...use a smoky joe out campin', have 2 old Brinkman "smoke n' grills (modified, of course) and another inexpensive grill/smoker that I use most of the time to just cook up some dinner...
Live in "sunny" Oregon (McMinnville area, about 50 miles southwest of Portland)...right next to a nice creek...880 acre farm, so have deer, elk, cougar, bobcats, posslums, coyotes, quail runnin' around...not MY place, but have a real good guy for a "landlord"...we lost our nice home and a BUNCH of money due to all that "downturn" crapola in 2001 or so...so, havin' Lucien as my landlord, he's kinda like my grandfather, brother and father all rolled into one...I can use any of his equipment, he has 4 ATV's, big tractors, big trucks, etc...works the farm by himself, no siblings...we get along real well. I help him whenever he needs it...LOTS to do around here...he even has a hydro-power pump house. sends electricity BACK into the grid...but, we had a BUNCH of rain last month and his "big lake" that has an earthen dam, blew out...lost about 10 or 15 million gallons of stored water...oh well, we'll get it fixed one of these daze...
Plan to get some chickens, rabbits and also raise squabs (baby pigeons...VERY tasty !! ) all depends on what I can srounge up to build some places for 'em all...don't have too much moola to spend on anything other then REAL "basics". But, ALL would taste real good on the ol' barby...have black angus and spring lamb in the freezer...some elk...all compliments of my "landlord". I keep eyeballing the deer, but as of yet, haven't grabbed one of those...usually have at least a half dozen walk through our yard to get to one of the pastures...
enough rambling...what's happenin' out there in "new" bbg land ??!!
