Hi Guys!

Just got word my new Rec Tec shipped yesterday. We ordered it about two weeks ago in the late evening. A word about the wonderful service, they called the next morning to thank us and explain their shipping procedures and timing. Awesome response I didn't expect.

I am so excited to get it, I had to tell someone. Who better then you fine folks??

I do have to give a special recognition to my beautiful wife who ordered the Rec Tec for me as a 10yr anniversary gift!!

She is truly an amazing woman.

Thank You, and I look forward to showing some smokes on the new unit!

Thanks Red!! Will be sure to keep the better half happy.

Looking at your smokes and all of the good things you have had to say about Rec Tec helped me decide to go with it.

I did have a question for you though, did you season yours? If so, how did you?

Again, thank you.

Oh yeah, you are gonna have fun when that comes!  Congratulations!

When I got mine, I burnt it in, don't remember what temp but the book should tell you. Right after that I cooked up two pounds of bacon to season it up, plus it made for a great meal.  :-)  Have fun, looking forward to your excitement and pictures.

You're welcome brother!  I'm always happy to help out a little if I can.

Yes, I did season it...real similar to Frog's method.  The first thing I did after assembly was a high temp burn-in.  Run it up to 450*-500*, and let it go for an hour or so.  This will help to burn off any manufacturing junk/oils that are left in the chamber.  Then I let it cool down, took a clean rag and wiped down all interior surfaces.  Then I wiped a little coating of vegetable oil on the cooking grates, fired it up again and put a full pound of thick cut bacon right on the grates...cooked the bacon at a cooking temp of around 350* until it was nice and crispy.  The bacon grease provided all the seasoning necessary.
