Leaving Thursday for a week in Fl with my bro. Power company replacing my underground power line today and cut my fiber optics line for internet right at house. I dont know how he managed that? Was clearly mark. Frontier cant get anybody here before Thursday to run recovery line. I talked to several people. Trying to work on phone a pain! I have Tracfone and cant hot spot it. Spirit app wont work on phone. Cant verify my login. Been like that for years! Cant print or anything. Cant download movies on my tablet to watch on plane. I like to monitor house with cameras when away. Even have a camera on my four fridge/freezers monitors. I even play off my dish hopper when I away. That's out. Man we rely on the internet! Guess like they say could be worse.

Sounds to me like the power company should get you a mobile Hotspot and pay for the data on it whole your internet is down. I would be livid myself.

I'm a " skilled trade " worker , so this crap chaps my back side .
I think I would cause a fuss and force something to happen . I know that's a pain , and doesn't mean something will happen , but maybe .

When I first moved in this house , the lot next door was vacant . Years later they were building on it , and had to re do the grade at the back of my lot .
Guy tore up the Cable 5 freaking times . Had to wait for them to do the ground ID , then send a crew to install and bury the cable each time .
On the 6th time , they came out and ran a Neon orange coax cable on top of the ground so I could watch TV and have Internet .
If that thing was any brighter you would need sunglasses .
Guy shows up the next freakin day and runs right through it .
I was even home and watching it happen . I walked out and was pointing at it , but you know , I'm a dumbass in his eyes . He stretched that thing so freakin' tight before it finally snapped , it sounded like a bull whip cracking .

Landscapers cut my fiber to the house. It was clearly marked and I even spoke to them and pointed out the paint markings on the grass. Three hours later they cut the line. Our good friends at AT&T said they would come fix the line in 4 days. They did fix it in 4 days, but we were without internet service for the 4 days. Our "landline telephone" was also out since it is VOIP. I was still charged for the days we did not have service.

Having spent two decades in the communications industry in my past… I am very familiar with doing line locates and also digging around line locates. It’s not that difficult to dig around a locate… some people just get lazy… looking for the damn on/off button on a shovel… afraid of some work! Rich’s comment is spot on!!

That. Worked on a natural gas crew one summer, trenching every single day in and around other buried services. You just have to get off the machine and dig with a shovel.

If a job had lots of stuff to dig around the company would send out a vac truck. Those were the easy days. Just wash the dirt away from the wires and vac it out of the hole.

Rich, been there so many times this thread just makes me so mad… I am out of the communications industry now… but that shit would make my blood boil.

You talk of the neon orange cable… one job was so bad we not only put down the neon orange cable… but some neon orange flags showing the path… it was not even in the construction zone and the dipshits still hit it even with flags showing the cable path!

Brian this really sucks, that you are at the mercy of big company's that just don't give a Sh**.
And like said above to have an ass do some normal work and still " F " it up.

I hope that you can get some resolve over this. I know it sucks as you are on your way to Florida. But , hopefully you can get it fixed and be compensated for your troubles.

Sometimes they just have to do slow hand shovel work, and not be so , " I must hurry so I can relax a bit ".
It is a hard day F,ing the dog all day instead of just doing a good job and being proud of it when done.

I know its too late to fix but, on a Verizon prepaid plan you can hotspot. We pay $50/month unlimited everything. saved us a couple times.
