Welcome from Columbus Ohio area. this is a great place for recipes advice and ideas. Some roasted tomatoe soup wouldn't hurt that cheese sandwich at all.

Some use mayonnaise instead of butter. Tried it both ways and much prefer butter.
Inform hubby that outdoor cooking is his realm and no more sitting on the couch watching while you are cooking?

Sitting on the couch while my wife is cooking is totally normal! Well, not usually... she's cooking when I'm not around or home. But she is a much better cook than me... I just do most of the smoking.

My husband is a great father and provider, if he wants an occasional day to watch sports and asks for a snack I’m more than happy to make him a simple sandwich. I’m not sure what the point of the criticism is here. The entire house is his realm and it’s not my place to boss him around. Our family practices traditional values and it has worked well for us.

Wife is generally the grilled cheese maker. but still haven't gotten her to try the mayo version. Love some tomato soup with them though.

Wife and I split the cooking duties when I'm around but I'll defer to her since my schedule has her doing the cooking for the kids and the grands when they're over.

Welcome to SMF and were glad to have you aboard.

Welcome from Sandusky. What sort of stuff you want to learn to smoke?

We ran a test of mayo vs butter and honestly, not a huge difference. The cheese is the real secret. Land O Lakes Extra Melt (aka govt cheese) wipes the floor with Kraft singles. Learned this as wife worked in our school's kitchen. Now you know why the toasted cheese from school was better than Mom's... Land O Lakes Yellow American from the deli is a good sub if you can't find Extra Melt.

Welcome from Hawaii! And yeah grilled cheese cooked on cast-iron with butter is the best!!

Sorry didn't mean to offend you.
I don't know you and your family and you don't know me and our family
My wife was stay at home raising our children. The house is her realm to rule. I never expected her to cook for me as I was rarely home in time for meal time for our children. Leftovers was fine for me.
Grilling was and is my cooking platform. Same when I got back into smoking. Both my at wife's directive.

A bit late here… but welcome from SE ID. Glad you joined us. That’s a tasty looking sammy and a nice beverage to wash it down! 👍
