I have an electric smoker and a reliable source of small minnows. I would like to dehydrate them for my dog's treats. I wouldn't use smoke or seasoning. Would it be advantageous to salt them first before I dried them? Can anyone provide a simple recipe or method for doing this? Thank you

I don't have the expertise in smoking to advise you properly. But I do have a wonderful little doggy-girl and I've read about what it takes to keep her in good health. I wouldn't give her any extra salt that she doesn't need. So, I wouldn't add any unnecessary salt to your fish when you smoke it.

Sounds like your buddy will love your treats.
