We're leaning towards it... We're kinda waiting a little bit to see what Highlands Hammock is going to do...
We're planning a trip to Sebring to see the renovated downtown area. We can swing over to HH and I will see how the sewer line extension and lift station has progressed and talk to the Park Rangers. I don't trust their optimism
Until I get a visual, don't hold your breath.

3.5 hours drive. might have to evaluate
And not show your skills on an enhanced kettle?
I think your ribs off the Pit Boss would have won a competition last year but without Doug dougmays dougmays to champion the event it slid away.
A 2 hour drive for me to either park

still trying to figure out where the S Florida line is..... :emoji_laughing: :emoji_laughing: :emoji_laughing:

That would be awesome Brian!

Oh come on, that's my drive every year :)

haha...i've been wondering this since 2013 when i moved back to Gainesville )

Doug I think your pretty much on the line now. Seems from about Ocala south is all the same and all runs together. I can remember when the line was Tampa but that was many many moons ago. I don't really like going to Gainesville anymore and I and try to avoid going any farther south if I can

Hey all,
I'm planning to go ahead and book at Hardee Lakes tomorrow, i want to call in the AM and ask if I can put my tent on a RV site. If that's allowed, i'll have Bill and Darcy (Miranda's parents) go ahead and book their site so we can piggyback off them. I'll also ask about cancellation policies just in case HH opens back up for us this year.

JckDanls 07 JckDanls 07 Keith mentioned Sites 10-15 and 26-30, the latter look to back up to the woods so maybe that's an ideal location? Anyone have a preference? As of right now (4/21) all RV spots are open in those 2 locations.

OK... And this is going to be what dates ?? Maybe update the Title...

And a heads up about site 10.. it kinda sucks because that's where the traffic splits and goes to ether side..

Thanks Doug.
Give us an update on what your learn tomorrow.
Getting nervous about dragging this out.
I have 2 reservations to coordinate with campground and RV.
I didn't have a chance to get down to Sebring and check on status at HH myself. I don't trust the optimism of the camp rangers. If the state office sets an opening date is because they know more details than the rangers.
Heading north next week and don't want to miss the call when I don't log on as much during the summer.

We need to plan about 10 sites?
Keith ( JckDanls 07 JckDanls 07 ), I like your idea to target reserving sites 11-15 and 26-30 to keep us in a group with our site back sides forming a huge common area. Plus it is close to the bath house.

We are shooting for the 2nd weekend of December, 12-14. So maybe the 26-30 section is more ideal Keith?
Thanks Doug.

I'm getting nervous as well, that's why i wanted to go ahead and get something booked. I just called and got their answering machine. Waiting for a call back or i'll try again in a hour or 2

Doug, you need to plan for around 10 campsites based on past attendees. Sites 26-30 is only 5. Sites 11-15 adds the other 5 for the required number to make 10.
Sites 11-15 and 26-30 back up to each other to make the gathering area as Keith also noted.
If Darcy & Bill select 15 or 26 and you can co camp that puts you outside of the major traffic areas.

After 4 pages of Abilene paradox, maybe start a completely new thread including the selected dates and new location?
