I want to buy a meat cleaver to use on my pork shoulders. I want to try some chopped barbecue instead of pulled pork.

Any suggestions of where/what to buy online? I don't want to spend a fortune. I would like to keep it under $50, if possible.

I have about 15 kitchen knives including a cleaver. I have found that a good sharp chefs knife is all I have ever needed to chop most anything.
Here is a link for a shop I have seen on line that seems to carry a good line of cutlery and I just looked - they have several under $50

Good luck with your search

When it comes to knives, you get what you pay for. A good pro knife with some weight to it will last for decades and hold an edge much better than the cheaper, lighter stuff.

Wüsthof & Henckels are probably the two most reputable brands. I found a 6" Henckels Cleaver for $35. It's from their lower end product line (International) so it's not the traditional cleaver, but still a dang good knife that fits your budget.

If you are willing to spend a little more, you can get the Pro-S Cleaver for $59 here. Heavy, professional chef quality.

I have a bunch of good knifes 2 Henkel Twins chefs 8" (cost over 200.00) and they are scarey sharp but I love them and use them all the time (their in alot of my Q's) then a cutco 12" slicing knife and a couple henkel boning knifes. If you take care of them no dish washer hand cleaned and dried rite then they will last a life time. For the money they better.

I second this comment. I still have (and use frequently) a Sabatier 10" chef's knife that I bought about 25 years ago at Lechemere. (Older New Englanders may recognize that name!)
