Hey Everyone,
I just received a MES 30" and a ET73 thermometer. I have the MES cold smoking kit coming tomorrow.
I have never smoked before, but it has always interested me. As you can see from my username, I LOVE SPICY FOOD! :)
This is an early bday present and the plan is to smoke a turkey for the first time for Xmas dinner. My wife is not a smoking fan so she's preparing a beef tenderloin and my smoked turkey will be extra...if it doesn't come out good, no harm or foul.
I'm a decent cook and I like to research diligently before attempting new recipes. The plan is to brine the turkey as my wife has always brined the Thanksgiving turkey and it makes a significant difference imho.
I used to make beef jerky w/ a food dehydrator so I'd like to try that sometime with this unit...though I'm sure there isn't much difference, but liquid smoke always seemed weird and kind of gross to me for some reason..
Pete
