Hello all,

I'm new here, and pretty new to smoking. I have been searching online for ideas for a smoker. I found one and wanted to run it past everyone to see if i'm missing something or in over my head lol.

Its a vertical T smoker,

I think it is going to be pretty cool. however, having a hard time finding pieces. I live in Pa, does anyone know of what could be used for the food grates, i would like to use expanded metal, but stainless is very expensive. Can any other expanded metal be used? or maybe something else? Any and all tips are welcome. Thanks in advanced

724, evening.... most folks use mild steel expanded or exp. flattened metal.... oil it well with veggie oil and the inside of the drums also, and you are good to go....  Great idea on the design....  Dave

Thanks fellas,

I believe I found a website for metal (hopefully) its called Mcnichols.com I have heard they have good prices. I hope it turns out well, I love challenges and this is definately going to be one. I will keep all posted.
