So glad to find this forum as it looks just like what I am looking for. My name is Big Mile and I am from Mebane NC. I was raised with BBQ,s in the blood I think. My dad would do Pig Pickins all the time. I started out as the wood splitter and the fire stoker as a little boy (couldn't screw that up at a young age). I can still remember sitting by the fire barrel freezing ny butt off it was so cold outside. Finally my Dad started letting me chop, that was the beginning of a class that lasted many years. My dad once you graduated fom his chopping school would give you a brand new 200 dollar cleaver. I didnt know I would be in my 30's before I graduated. The man is picky what can I say. I feel pretty good though as only 3 people have ever graduated as far as I know. Pops is getting up in his years and this year decided he wanted a buffalo chopper just to try out. Well let's just say that I am not getting headaches from all the clevers smacking the table anymore. Oh well I can go on and on but I won't.
