I am new here, I am looking to make out door cooking a new 2012 hobby. I have smoked on an Electric Brinkmann for 25 years, with great results. I cook smoke very basic, oil it salt/pepper and smoke it. I have shopped for a smoker/grill. I am not happy with the quality in the $300 to$500 price range. So I have the bug to build a quality life time grill. I have bought a 28 gallon air compressor to build a horizontal smoker/ grill. And am starting to ask questions. I was going to place the firebox beneath the cooking tank and plumb it with a propane fuel source for smoking. And us charcoal in the grill box for BBQing steaks, dogs, and such. As my wife likes the taste of food over charcoal. Though tonight she told my wished for me to do the build with what ever fuel source I wish. So now I am leaning towards just running a stainless propane tube down the middle of the inside of the grill, add a shield. Thus a nice propane grill. If I went with total propane, I may us the a-maze-n smoke system to smoke flavor my grill. But reading about the
a-maze-n, it says this is best for temps below 190degrees. So as you can see I have a lot to
Decide. But this Forum is going to be very helpful! Please chime in if you have any thoughts that may help me with my build. Thank you Tomm
