I smoked my first meatloaf this evening. Yall were right, meatloaf is very good smoked. In fact, the kiddo even ate some, and liked it! Thats a first.
Mama loved it too.
I used the recipe from the back of the soup box.

1 lb. ground sirloin
1 lb. ground pork (the pork was my idea, not in recipe)
2 eggs
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup ketchup
1 package lipton onion soup mix
1 green pepper - sauted (also my idea)
rubbed ketchup all over it.

Smoked it at 250-275 for around 1.5 hours over pecan wood. The internal temp reached 170.
Mama made New Orleans potato casserole too.
I'm sooooo full!!

Nicely done, very nicely done. Looks delicious.

I'm making one tomorrow, I hope it comes out half as good.

One excellent looking meatloaf low&slow. Thanks for sharing

Thanks everyone. I never heard of smoked meatloaf until I joined this form.
I dont think I can eat meatloaf any other way now. My wife told her parents about it and now they're coming over for leftovers tonight

. So I'm going to make some ABT's and a fatty to go along with it. That should really blow their minds...haha.

Great looking meatloaf, Low&Slow!

One of the things I like to do is pop a couple of small meatloaves in the smoker and then use them for samiches for work. There is always a litlte extra room for that!

Cheers!

Great looking meatloaf. Nice pic also. We love meatloaf at our house and try to keep on ahead in the freezer. Congrats on your success.

It's funny I used to hear the guys at work whine all the time about their wives making meatloaf again but when I bring them in they attack like a school of hungry sharks.

Maybe I need to teach their wives to smoke?

Had the meatloaf tonight myself, very good, wife and kids loved it. Its a keeper

P.S. used liptons onion soup mix instead of onions, smoked it about 3 hrs at 250-275 used
cherry wood chunks
