UDS Shelf Bracket Ideas

Discussion in 'UDS Builds' started by milnezor, Jul 22, 2015.

  1. I've managed to locate myself a 44 gal drum (in Australia) for $5. Before I set off on my UDS build I want to make sure I have all the components ready to go.

I like the idea of a side table and I was really impressed with the side table blakepizzey had added during his UDS build here: http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/178676/my-first-uds-build-with-photos

I'd like to have a similar set up on my UDS but I want the table to be able to fold down so I can cover it with a standard Weber BBQ cover to protect it from the elements. So far, I've been able to find these on ebay which will allow me to fold the table from 90deg to 0deg but they are not ideal. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-Pcs-30...71?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item51d12ffcf7

Anyone have a better idea or can help me out?

    Cheers,

They look like they would work. What dont you like about them?

  3. I think they would work. I was just wondering if there would be a more simple design or other things people had used in the past. Hopefully I can get these in black.

Do you think I would bolt the long side or short side to the drum? Table would probably need to be able to support a brisket or a few racks of ribs.

I would bolt the short side to the drum. You could even reinforce that part of the drum to make sure it holds up.
