Just made it back from one of our annual camping trips that always puts me in the mood for some Pirate talk, ARRRGGGHHHHH!

Every year we attend two Wooden Boat Festivals here in Oregon. The first is held the third weekend of April in Depoe Bay Oregon, the second is held the second weekend in August in Toledo Oregon.

I took the Mini-ZA and made pizzas wings and reverse seared T bones at camp.

The weather was fantastic, 80's both days! And just enough wind to let the sailboats have some fun!

Georgia Pacific has a paper mill there and sponsors the cardboard boat races.

Okay so enough of that on to tonight's cook!

Had a few ounces left in each of these so I went against my golden rule and marinated a Spatchy.

Oops wrong bird! Musta been a bit more in those bottles!

    Getting drunk!

    And into the fire!!!!!

For anyone who follows the deadliest catch show that's the Kiska Sea. Quite a few of the crab boats spend the off season in Oregon and Washington.

For hunters and Backpackers or boat campers out there we visited the Grand opening of FishPeoples new fish processing plant. If your into eating good food when in the woods check them out. It's all boil in pouch so you have to pack a bit of liquid weight, but sure beats the freeze dried stuff.

I took advantage of the good pricing!

One of the best things about them is they support the communities they are in. And sustainability is number one.

Two different family boat builds. One geared towards kids one for the adults.

These kids boats are built in less than two days the adults about 4.

Better bring your bagpipes! Blessing of the fleet requires that! Might be competition!

Chicken looks great! Looks like a great time. AND you showed me something. I had never seen a spud dock, spud barge yes, spud dock never. That is really cool, how high is the flood stage there? Those spuds are really high, they expecting a rogue wave maybe? If the water could raise that high, I would dang sure want to be in a boat tied to a spud with a big loop....LOL

Stan I get these T-bones all the time and they are just shy of a Porterhouse!

Toledo Oregon is on the Yaquina River about 13 miles upriver from the Pacific Ocean. So where the docks are there is a 5'-7' tide change every 8 hours. The old pilings used to hold log rafts back in the hay days of logging. Even up until the late 1980's you could see rafts of logs tied up. Here's an old photo of Toledo. Bottom left hand corner just right of the trees  and just past the two buildings is boat basin now.

Here's what it looks like now. None of the original buildings are there anymore.

Thanks DS! Something we look forward to every year. My 8 year old informed me that next year we are doing the boat build. He wants his own punt!

Sweet! I go woodcutting with my hunting buddies even though I no longer have a wood stove.

I've been to gospel lake about 35 years ago!
