Target Temp for a Mother's Day Tri-Tip

  1. Gonna smoke a 2.5 lb tri tip tomorrow. Jeff's recipe suggests a target temp of about 225-250. Other sites online suggest about 140-150 for medium rare. Am I missing something here? I don't want to over cook it! My future mother in law is coming over for lunch and the pressure is on to deliver!

    For Tri Tip:

    Rare: 120-125 internal
    Med Rare: 130-140 internal
    Medium: 150 internal
    Well Done: 160 internal

    Steve I think your looking at smoker temps of 225-250 and internal meat temps should be what Ableman posted

    Thats what were all here for to help each other and gain knowledge don't forget to start early it will hold foiled towel wraped in a cooler for a long time and better done early than late also post us some Qview
