Strong Smoke Flavor?

Discussion in 'Electric Smokers' started by smoke eater5, Aug 19, 2011.

  1. I am putting my feelers out there as to what types of wood put out the stronger flavor of smoke. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Mesquite is the strongest, too strong for most people.

Hickory is my favorite. It's strong but pleasant.

I agree.  Mesquite is very strong and can be quite bitter if not handled carefully.  Hickory is my go to wood, and I also like oak.

That Coastal Red Oak I PM'ed you about is on my list when I can get my hands on some.

    Good luck and good smoking.
