ok so i was talking to my girlfriends dad about his smoker and i was telling him about my temp probs with my SnP...i was telling him how i was going to make a charcoal basket for the firebox and he said that he had the same problem with his smoker and he told me that he flipped his over because it was warped pretty bad...so i tried mine when i got home earlier and VIOLA...i know have like an extra 2 1/2 inches for air flow under the coal grate...you are a genius..

The thing is when your fire gets hot it's going to warp back down... and you'll have to start all over again.. or at least I did.

Don't throw away the idea of the basket, it'll make everything 10x better in the end.   I just happened to have a grate from a hibatchi style square grill that fit perfectly in my SNP to raise the grates about 3 inches and it made a world of difference!

Ralph,

I did the same thing with my chargriller with similar results. The thing warps back the other way after a couple smokes. I wound up cutting a couple pieces of expanded metal, welding them back to back, and slid them in the firebox. They fit perfectly right on top of the existing bolts that go through the front & back. Try it, you won't be sorry.
