How many here have tried to use sawdust in there MES 40   ""Without a AMAZEN""   straight in the chip pan,, how did it work for you
 
It won't work.  If you put sawdust in the chip tray, it will ignite the whole thing.  This happens even with the AMNS, it can happen a couple of ways, one is get it too close to the elements and the additional heat + the hot cherry burn in the sawdust combined ignites the other dust very quickly.  The other in the AMNS is the saw dust gets very dry and can easily ignite, either a cross over spark or just the shear heat from the burn in the channel that is burning/smoldering ignites the adjacent channel sawdust, quickly all the channels are lit.
