Hello All,

A newbie on the site out of Winchester, VA. Anyone in the area? My name is John, originally from Britain, been in the States for around 14 yrs now. Been smoking for a couple years on a little Home Depot jobbies, currently in the early planning stages of a custome reverse flow offset build. I have a thread started asking for help so if you have made it through to the end of this post then please by all means swing over to my other thread and weigh in with your opinion.

Hey there, I stopped off at the wafflehouse u got there in on the way down to Knoxville. What type of tank are you using for your build?

Sounds like it should be a nice rig. Do you home brew? I noticed your quote

Homebrewer for many a year. Still love it. I frequently have pool parties (about every weekend) during the summer, and always like to have smoked meats, sausages, and cured meats, so I joined SMF to learn more about making my own. I can see this being a big money pit!

I'm in the same boat as you, been home brewing for years. I basically got involved with it back in the day because i couldn't get the ales i enjoyed back home in England out here in the States, so got to brewing my own. Now been messing round on a small smoker but the chance to build a big trailer mounted behemoth came about so after looking round i joined up on here, smoked meat and good ale go hand in hand. And with the amount of large parties my fiancee family have on their farm i got a good sized audience of hungry thirsty people lol.

Give me a holla if your ever up this way and i'll get out some homebrew and hopefully by then have the rig up and running.

Sounds like a plan. I hope to use a bigger smoker to feed the homebrew club gatherings (as well as my own parties)!

We have a great little homebrew competition here in Roanoke (Star City Homebrew Throwdown). If you like entering competitions, we have some of the best prizes...

I got too admit i have not entered many, but something i would like to do more, especially now my rig is at the point im happy with, and If nothing else i have heard the feedback can be really helpful on making adjustments. I brew a really nice Heather Ale, awesome for summer. And i got a few recipes i brew reg, i do tend to lean more to English styles purely because i think thats what i grew up on.

In the process of kegging my rye ale - gotta have it carbonated by Big Brew (May 6th) to share with the club.

I think I'll take a growler of my session saison with me to St. John tomorrow - tough to get good beer in the Caribbean...
