I live up in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada.

I do not yet have my smoker because I don't know which one I want to buy. I have been thinking about going with a regular electric smoker. Any recommendations?

Other than that.... we got some monster lake trout up here and I am dying to smoke some this summer.

Gangler, Welcome to the best site for leaning the how-to's and why-for's about smoking foods.

We have a number of Canadian members here, so you'll be right at home here.

As far as electric smokers goes, a number of member use the MES smoker and like the results. It's also good for cold smoking fish because you can set the thermostat way down low.

Check out the Forum and see what others use in the way of electrics and gander and the q-vue while your at it.

Enjoy!

welcome aboard-wow your really up there-ice road truckers area.

Glad you joined us, welcome to SMF !!!
I have a couple electric MES smokers and very much like them. For the price ($200 to $400 U.S. currency), I feel they are a good smoker.

-100º to 275ºF thermostatically controlled for a perfect temperature every time
-push button precision digital control panel
-0-24 hour digital timer with auto shut-off
-100% insulated for energy efficient cooking
-air damper for better smoke control
-adjustable door latch
-wood chip tray slides for easy ash removal
-wood chip loader makes adding wood chips convenient and safe without opening the door
-rear-mounted grease pan

These come in black powdercoat or stainless steel and 30" or 40" sizes.

Gangler.......in some places that might be considered "cruel and unusual punishment" for posting pics like that and teasing those of us that don't have access to such good lookin' fish.....

Feel free to pack a big cooler full of lakers and some dry ice and send to me for quality control purposes......
