Just purchased the Brinkmann gourmet electric smoker, read some decent reviews about it so hopefully it works for me. I am new to the smoking business so any tips and pointers would be helpful. Thanks

Welcome to SMF! What part of Nebraska are you from? I live in NE Nebraska and I can tell you that your biggest enemy is gonna be the wind. At least in this part of the state it rarely seems to stop blowing and it sucks the heat away from your smoker faster than you can believe.
Find a place for your smoker that is out of the wind and it will make your life easier.
