thanks Mulepackin, the info was appreciated. I have the book (Bible:o) ) you are talking about ordered, was hoping it would be here by now but alas it hasn't. Hopefully by end of the week or first of next. I'll have to call a place up here and see if they carry some of this stuff other wise I'll maybe go to the Elton site and order some things from there.
I have a Villeware Pro Grinder 320 watt. the only stuffer that came with it looks to be like it would be considered a medium sized one that comes with a Cabela grinder that actuallt has three stuffers that come with it, one smaller than what this one looks like and one larger.
If you can order these with out the grinder would or are most all of these stuffers interchangeable with other grinders? I sure hope so as the stuffer that come with it is bigger than I want. The beef stick attachment that comes with the Jerky Blaster I got from Cabelas is the size I want.Any thoughts on this will be appreciated Thanks again for the info. on the other stuff. :o) KM

I have a 5# grizzly vertical stuffer-3 tubes-3/8s-1/2 & 3/4-doubt the make it that easy to be interchangeable.I use Hi mountian and love it.word of thought-DON't take cures for granted!!they can be fatal!!measure to the t.

If I'm following your post correctly, you are actually using the stuffing horn which came with your grinder? It is probably the usual size horn that comes with grinders, usually about a 3/4" or so size. Your grinder should be sized by the throat opening. This is usually a #12, #22, or #32. Most of the supply houses carry stuffing horns to fit these grinder sizes in a few different diameters. You shouldn't have too much trouble finding the size of horn (tube) you are looking for. However, if you stay at this, you will be wanting an actual sausage stuffer, which undeniably does a better job of stuffing than your grinder. If I misread your post and you are aware of all this, just ignore me (my wife does all the time).

Morning Mulepackin, yes you are understanding me just fine, wish I could say the same I rarely understand myself LOL. I'll have to check around on the stuffer thing, but will check out what # my grinder is. Doubt that I'll be doing any of this a lot, more for something to do and give out to friends once in awhile but always find if you have the proper equipment things go a tad bit easier. Thanks for explaining things now I understand this part allot better :o). Well got to go, time to head to work and play in Hair

Howdy Y'all,

I just made some sticks last weekend. I used the kit that I bought from the sausage maker and they came out great. The kit comes with 19mm callogen casings which I don't care for. Does anyone know what the casings are on a slim jim from the store. And where to get them. I would like something in a smaller diameter stick but I can't find anything?

Thanks for the help..

Scooter, evening..... Do you have a stuffing tube that will handle a smaller casing ?? That is the BIG question...... Dave

Howdy Dave,

No I don't have a tube for that yet. But I am willing to make one if need be. I see they have the double ones for the commercial stuffers. I think it was for a Hobart. I saw it on ebay. I could probably modify that to fit mine. Thanks.
